Tony Romo Notices 12th Man Missing in Dallas

dallascowboys dishing the real

When Romo and the Cowboys offense broke the huddle for their first possession Sunday in their home stadium at AT&T, I noticed that it was very loud. Like what you would expect if it were a road game for the Cowboys. Visiting Texan fans showed up in force and made their presence heard. Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo certainly noticed the noise from opposing fans.

Romo pointed out that they had to go with a silent count which is something that would be expected in a road game not in AT&T. “That was the first time I had to do that throughout the game at home,” Romo said. The 12th man refers to the home field advantage a football team can usually expect with noise from its fans but the 12th man has been missing in Dallas.

Romo went on to say, “That was every bit as loud as going to…

Attorney: Donald Sterling ‘Is Not Selling’ The Clippers

CBS Seattle

LOS ANGELES (CBS Seattle/AP) — Former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has agreed to buy the Los Angeles Clippers for a record-breaking $2 billion. Now it’s up to others whether the deal goes through.

Shelly Sterling said in a statement issued late Thursday that she’d signed a binding contract for a sale of the Clippers by The Sterling Family Trust to Ballmer in what would be a record deal if approved by the NBA.

Ballmer “will be a terrific owner,” Sterling said, “We have worked for 33 years to build the Clippers into a premier NBA franchise. I am confident that Steve will take the team to new levels of success.”

Sterling negotiated the sale after her husband, Donald Sterling, made racist remarks that were made public. The remarks included Sterling telling girlfriend V. Stiviano not to bring blacks to Clippers games, specifically mentioning Hall of Famer Magic Johnson.

Readying for a White House event Thursday focusing on youth sports and brain safety, officials announced a fresh commitment of $65 million in private funds to boost clinical and scientific work.

In addition to $30 million from the NCAA and a new pledge of $25 million from the NFL for separate endeavors, a $10-million gift to UCLA from Hollywood executive and New York Giants co-owner Steve Tisch will help get a national tracking system for concussions off the ground.

“Hopefully, 20 years from today, athletes won’t be discovering the head injuries that football players now are discovering they may have gotten when they were playing in high school and college,” said Tisch, whose…

Memorial Day

Sing. Dream. Hope. Pray.

My father was a great man whose life was unexpectedly and tragically cut short at the ripe age of 49.  My father had a heart condition and suffered a massive stroke shortly before Thanksgiving of 1970.  He died Thanksgiving day.  I was six years old and in first grade.  I still remember my first grade teacher, Mrs. Johnston, coming to our home to pay her respects.  Although I was but a small child, I have wonderful memories of my father.  I know God is sovereign over all things, I’d be lying if I said I don’t deeply regret not having my father throughout at least a substantial portion of my life.  There were so many things he could’ve taught me and so many things I want to know about him and his life.

Thunder-Spurs Game 1 Expectations

Grandstand Media

Oklahoma City Thunder v San Antonio Spurs

I swear to you I have been waiting for this game all day and there’s still a lot of time before the game even starts. It is going to be an absolutely amazing series. The Thunder are a tough match up for the Spurs because of the Thunder’s ability to flat out score. It will be interesting to see how the Thunder can play without Ibaka. I think Stephen Adams and Nick Collison can fill in adequately. But will it be enough?

Tonight isn’t going to be about that. Mr. Kevin Durant will NOT let the whole Ibaka thing ruin his game. The Spurs don’t really have anyone that can guard him, as if anyone in the NBA has someone who can. But Durant is going to go out tonight and prove why he is the MVP. I fully expect a 40 point game from KD and at least 30…

Am I Crazy? Or Is He? – How Addiction Warps Us

A Walk on the Wild Side

Silver-Linings-Playbook-Image-03 From the film “Silver Lining Playbook” about mental illness

He was already high when I picked him up from the bus station to bring him home.

I’d hoped after a month in jail he’d be clean and sober and ready to make a fresh start on the road to recovery. That’s why we were letting him stay with us. He had nowhere else to go, and we wanted him to be safe until we could get him into rehab.

But it was already too late for safe, for clean, for a fresh start.

I could have refused to bring him home, of course. I could have left him at the bus stop. But I didn’t. I had my suspicions, but I wasn’t absolutely certain he was high.

I was sure a couple of days later though when, after I refused to give him a ride into town, he disappeared in…
